National Conference

NAAE organises a biennial conference as one of our strategies to achieve the objectives of our association. Responsiblity for hosting the national conference is taken by each of the different state associations of agricultural educators in turn, as follows –

17th biennial conference  - January, 2012 – South Australia (Australia Science and Maths School, Adelaide) –“Feeding the Future”

13th biennial conference – January, 2004 – South Australia (Kangaroo Island) – “Sustaining Agriculture through Innovation and Diversification”

12th biennial conference – January, 2002 – Tasmania (University of Tasmania, Sandy Bay campus) – “Educating for a Clean and Green Future”

11th biennial conference – January, 2000 – Western Australia (Trade Winds Hotel, Freemantle) – “Educating for Rural Revival”


The 16th Biennial conference

This years Conference was very successful and thoroughly enjoyed by more than 70 agricultural educators from every state in Australia. Highlights of the conference (see programme) included –

  • Keynote address and forum that considered the place of Agriculture in the national curriculum
  • Eighteen elective workshops over seven sessions
  • Regional food and wine tasting
  • Regional tours, visiting farms and schools in the Lockyer Valley, Fassifern Valley, Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts
  • Spectacular conference dinner under the stars, with guest performer/speaker Harmony James
